Acquisition Settings - Saving |
|
By default, when you make an image acquisition, a new image document will be created and displayed in the document group. You can rename and save this image. If you have not already saved it when you end your software, you will be asked if you want to do so. In the Acquisition Settings > Saving dialog box, you can also have the image automatically saved after the acquisition. For some acquisition processes, the automatic storage is set by default. Opening the dialog boxThere are several ways in which you can open the dialog box: 1.For example, click Acquisition Settings 2.Select the Saving entry in the tree structure. Different settings for different acquisition processesYou can define different settings for the saving of document, for the different acquisition processes. In the tree structure beneath the Save entry, select the acquisition process for which you want to change the settings. •Select the Snapshot entry, to specify the image name for the snapshot acquisition. •Select the Movie entry, to specify the document name for a recorded movie. You can find step-by-step instructions on how to acquire a movie here. To do so, select the File system entry from the Destination list. Select the File system entry when you want to save your images as files. In the dialog box, the Directory group will then appear. Here you can e.g., define the destination location for saving your documents. Deactivating automatic savingSelect the No automatic save entry to switch off the automatic saving of images. You will then have to save the images yourself by using e.g., the File > Save As... command, when you have acquired an image and want to keep the image file. In this case, no other functions will be available in this dialog box. File typePrerequisite: You can only select an entry from the File type list for separate image acquisition. For recording a movie, the file format is predefined. In the File type list, select the file format in which the images should be saved after separate image acquisition. For the image file formats TIF, VSI, AVI, JPEG, and JPEG 2000, there are also additional settings that are taken into account when saving images. Click the Options... button if you want to see these settings or change them. Note: Images acquired with your software always contain a range of additional information which can be seen in the Properties tool window. This additional information will only be retained if the images are saved in the TIF, BTF, or VSI format. Additional notes on saving images can be found here. Close after saveSelect the Close after save check box to have the image document close immediately after the image has been saved. The images will then be saved as files. Please note that you then can't see the images in your software after the image acquisition. Use this possibility to avoid taking up too much of your PC's memory capacity when you acquire images. DirectoryPrerequisite: The Directory group is only available if you select the File system entry from the Automatic save > Destination list. Selecting a pathThe Base field shows the directory that will currently be used when your images are automatically saved. This preview will be updated as soon as you select another directory. Click the [...] button next to the Base field, to choose the directory into which the images are to be saved after their acquisition. Creating a subdirectoryWhen you save images automatically after the image acquisition, you have the possibility of saving images that belong together in their own individual directory. By default, all of the images that you acquire in one day will then be saved in one separate directory. On the following day, a new directory will be automatically opened. This enables you to always have a clear overview, even when you acquire a great number of images. Select the Create Subdirectory check box to have the acquired images saved in their own subdirectory. Click the Customize... button if you want to change the name that has been suggested for the subdirectory. The Customize Subdirectory Name dialog box opens. Click here, to switch to a description of this dialog box. Your software supplies you with a number of placeholders that you can use in directory names. With your choice of the placeholder you also determine the criterion with which your directory tree structure will be organized. You can, therefore, set up a subdirectory for each user, for instance. You can find an overview of possible placeholders here. Checking the previewThe Preview field shows you the current subdirectory for the next image acquisition. This preview will be updated as soon as you change the subdirectory's name. You can find step-by-step instructions on how to define a subfolder here. Default / Apply to AllYou can restore the default settings at any time. To do this, click the Default button. Click the Apply to All button to have the settings of the current acquisition process adopted by all of the other acquisition processes. Note: The entry from the File type list is an exception. For recording a movie, the file format is predefined. The entry from the File type list is therefore not adopted by the other acquisition processes. 3040 16042013 |
