Save Image Options - TIFF |
|
Use the TIFF tab located in the Save Image Options dialog box to set the options for the following image file formats. These options will then be taken into account every time you save images in one of these formats. •Tagged Image Format (*.tif) •BigTiff (*.btf): The BTF (Big Tiff) file format is a special category of TIF file format. It allows you to save images that are bigger than 4 Gigabytes when uncompressed. Opening the dialog boxSelect the File > Save As... command. Select one of the image file formats listed above and click the Options... button. Description of dialog boxSelecting the compression parametersImages that you save in the TIF image file format can also be compressed by the JPEG method before you save them. In this way you reduce the size of your file while still being able to benefit from the TIF format's ability to save additional data along with your image. Select a compression method from the Compression list. You can choose between the Packed Bits, JPEG, JPEG 2000 and LZW compression methods. When you select the JPEG2000 compression method you can set additional parameters for the compression on the JPEG 2000 tab. If you select JPEG compression, the Quality field will become available. Enter the desired quality of the compressed image in this field. When you increase the percentage value, the artifacts created by the JPEG compression will become smaller, the file will, however, not be greatly reduced in size. Inversely, when you decrease the JPEG image quality, you reduce the file size at the expense of image quality. By default, the image quality is set at 85%. The Packed Bits and LZW methods compress without loss of quality. Please pay regard to the following points when you compress images while saving them: •Most compression methods create image artifacts. The more an image is compressed; the more artifacts this creates. •Some application programs have problems with loading compressed TIF images. If you want to load your images with another application program you should check whether this application program can load compressed TIF images or not. •The JPG compression method isn't available for 16-bit gray-value images. The images will in all cases be saved without compression. Creating a thumbnailIf you want to view or process 16-bit gray-value images in other application programs, you might have difficulty with loading or displaying the images. MS-Windows Explorer displays 16-bit gray-value images as black, for example. Select the Create check box if you want to create a thumbnail when saving an image. The thumbnail is saved as an 8-bit image to enable its display in other application programs. Select the Use full size option if you want to save the thumbnail in its full file size. Select the Limit size option and enter the maximum number of pixels for the thumbnail in the field. Select the Burn in info check box to burn additional information, such as the scale bar or the info stamp, into the current image. The Convert color space to sRGB function doesn't apply to your software version. 1002 06022015 |
