Customizing automatically created names |

Your software will create names for some documents and directories automatically. For instance, the first image that your software acquires will be named, "Image_01", by default. You can change this automatically created name at any time. Customizing automatically created image names for the snapshot acquisition Defining a subfolder for the automatic saving Customizing automatically created image names for the snapshot acquisitionWhen an image is acquired, your software allocates it a default name. For instance, the first image that your software acquires will be named Image_01, by default. You can change this name in the Acquisition Settings > Document Name dialog box. A description of this dialog box can be found here. TaskThe image names should contain the name of your department and the acquisition date. Note: The described change to the image names is just an example. You can, of course, define your own image names completely differently. Opening the dialog box for defining the image name1.Make the Camera Control tool window appear. To do this, use, e.g., the View > Tool Windows > Camera Control command. 2.In the toolbar of the Camera Control tool window, click the Acquisition Settings 3.In the Acquisition Settings dialog box, you can change a variety of settings for the image acquisition. 4.Select the Document Name entry in the tree structure. 5.In the tree structure, the Document Name entry will be expanded automatically. You can define different document names for the acquisition of snapshots and for the acquisition of movies. 6.In the tree structure, select the Snapshot entry, to edit the settings for acquiring a snapshot. 7.The Preview field shows the name of the next image that you acquire, e.g., Image_01, as long as you have not yet acquired an image. 8.Click the All Options... button located in the Customize group to open a dialog box where you can define the image name. 9.The current image name is made up of the text and the placeholders which are listed in the Selected properties column. The Image, <Separator>, and <Counter> entries are set by default. Changing the image name definition1.Change the order in the Selected properties column to have the image name begin with the consecutive number. To do this, select the <Author> entry and click the Up button repeatedly until this entry has moved up to the front. 2.The changed image name will then be displayed in the Preview field. 3.Add the acquisition date to the image name. To do this, select the <Date> entry in the Available properties column. Click the Add >> button to move this entry into the Selected properties column. 4.Shift the <Date> entry to the last position in the Selected properties column. To do so, select the <Date> entry and click the Down button. The new image name will be displayed in the Preview field, check it there. 5.Should you not be satisfied with the way the date is formatted, select the <Date> placeholder and click the Modify... button. You can then set another date format. Close the dialog box with OK. 6.You can find more placeholders which you can use in image names here. 7.Click OK to return to the Acquisition Settings > Document Name dialog box. 8.Enter any term you want to use in the image name, in the Text field, e.g., the name of your department. 9.Specify the required numbering. 10.In the Counter start field, enter, for example, the value 10 and in the Counter Digits field enter 3. 11.Close the dialog box with OK. 12.The name of the next image which you acquire is then (for instance) department_010270914. In this example the image was acquired on 9/27/2014. Defining a subfolder for the automatic savingBy default, when you make an image acquisition, a new image document will be created and displayed in the document group. You can specify that this image should automatically be saved. To do so, use the Acquisition Settings > Saving dialog box. A description of this dialog box can be found here. TaskAll saved images should automatically be saved in a different directory each day. Every user of the software should have their own directory. Note: The described change to the directory names is just an example. You can, of course, define your own directories completely differently. Opening the dialog box for defining the directory name1.Open the Acquisition Settings dialog box. 2.Select the Saving entry in the tree structure. 3.In the tree structure, the Saving entry will be expanded automatically. You can configure the automatic saving in different ways for different acquisition processes. 4.Select the Movie entry to define the automatic saving options for recording movies. 5.Select the File system entry in the Automatic save > Destination list, to switch on the automatic storage. 6.Now, the function groups in the dialog box will become active. 7.Select the Directory > Create Subdirectory check box. Customizing directory names8.Click the Customize... button next to the Create Subdirectory check box, to open the Customize Subdirectory Name dialog box. 9.By default, the entries Folder, <Separator>, and <Date> can be found in the Selected properties column. This results in all of the images that you acquire in one day being saved in one separate directory. On the following day, a new directory will be automatically opened. 10.Change the Folder text. To do this, select the Folder entry in the Selected properties column, then click the Modify... button. Enter the directory name you want, e.g. "MyImages" in the Modify Text dialog box and close the dialog box with OK. The new name will be displayed in the Preview field, check it there. 11.You are back in the Customize Subdirectory Name dialog box. •You will then have automatically created a new text that you can use again at any time. Therefore, you can find the new text in the Available properties column, too. 12.Enter the <Author> placeholder in the directory tree as an additional criterion. 13.The <Author> placeholder stands for the user who acquired the image. The name supplied will be the name under which the user is logged-on in the operating system. 14.Change the order in the Selected properties column to have the directory name begin with the user name. Defining a subdirectory15.Create a new directory below the <Author> directory. To do this, select the <Subdirectory> entry in the Available properties column. Click the Add >> button to move this entry into the Selected properties column. 16.Shift the <Subdirectory> entry below the <Author> entry. 17.Close all dialog boxes with OK. 18.The next movie which you record with the Camera Control tool window will then be saved, for example, in the subdirectory "Henry\MyImages_140105". 19.The subdirectory will be automatically created beneath the directory which you specified as the storage location in the Acquisition Settings > Saving dialog box. 20.The name of the subdirectory is then made up of the user of the software and a date. In this case, the image was acquired by Henry on 1/5/2014, because the date format is YYYYMMDD by default. 21.If a different user acquires images with your software, their images will be saved in their own subdirectory. 00253 14022014 |
