Tool Window "Camera Control" - Movie recording

In the Camera Control tool window, you can easily switch from the snapshot acquisition to movie recording. When you record a movie your camera will acquire as many images as it can within a period of time that you define. The movie will be saved as a file in the AVI format. You can play it back with your software and also, for example, with MS-Windows Media Player.

Saving the movie

Note: The Movie acquisition process is set up in such a way that a movie will be automatically saved in the AVI file format when it has been acquired. You set the storage location, the video file's name, and other parameters for saving the file, in the Acquisition Settings > Saving > Movie dialog box. You can find more information on this dialog box here.

Please note that most of the additional image information that your software automatically registers together with the image can't be saved in the AVI file format. If this information is essential for your requirements, you should save the movie in the VSI or TIF file format.

Note: For technical reasons, the maximum pixel number of an movie in the AVI file format is limited to 4,096 x 4,096 pixels. You should either reduce the movie format accordingly by clipping or use the RADIUS VSI file format in order not to adhere to this limitation.

Viewing the movie

A movie will automatically have its own navigation bar directly in the image window. Use this navigation bar to have a look at the movie. You can find more information on the navigation bar here.

You can, of course, also use any other software that can play back AVI files, to view your movie.

Adjusting play back speed

When you play back a movie in your software, you can adjust the play back speed in the Define Speed dialog box. A description of this dialog box can be found here.

When you play the movie back with another software version, it will be played back at a fixed speed. This playback speed will have been fixed when the AVI file was saved. To look at the playback speed, or to change it, use the Options dialog box. A description of this dialog box can be found here.
