bb_move Move Tool

Click this button to go into a mode for moving an image segment. You will find this button on the Toolbox toolbar. In this mode, you can move a selected image segment within the image.

Before you can move an image segment

Define an image segment. To do so, click the Marquee Tool bb_rectangular_marquee button on the Toolbox toolbar.

MauszeigerMove As soon as you have clicked the Move Tool button, you will find yourself in a special mode. In this mode, the mouse pointer will change its shape. You will remain in this mode until you explicitly switch it off. To do this, select another button in the Toolbox toolbar.

Moving an image segment

1.Activate the image out of which you want to move the segment, in the document group.

2.Activate the Toolbox toolbar. To do this, use, e.g., the View > Toolbars > Toolbox command.

3.Click the Marquee Tool bb_rectangular_marquee button on the Toolbox toolbar.

4.With the left mouse button depressed, outline the image segment that you want to move.

5.The selected image segment will be outlined with a broken line.

5.Click the Move Tool bb_move button on the Toolbox toolbar.

6.The mouse pointer will change its shape.

6.Move the mouse pointer onto the selected image segment. While keeping the left mouse button depressed, drag the image segment to the required position.

7.As soon as you are moving an image segment, most of the commands in your software are not available anymore.

7.When you are satisfied with the image segment's new position, click the right mouse button and select Confirm Input bb_confirm command. An easy alternative is simply to doubleclick on the selected image segment.

8.The image segment is now a part of the image. The part of the source image that is now covered by the image segment you pasted, has then been deleted.

9.Click e.g., the Selection Tool bb_select_object button on the Toolbox toolbar, to leave the mode for moving an image segment.

Moving and copying an image segment

Please note that you can't use the Move Tool button to move an image segment from one image to another. To do so, use the Edit > Copy, or Edit > Copy Display to Clipboard command.

 

When you move image segments, please pay attention to the points listed below:

Shape of the image segments

The image segment need not be rectangular nor connected, it can be made up of a combination of rectangular image segments in any form you may wish for. Additional information on selecting irregularly shaped image segments can be found here.

Large images

Should your image be very large, use the Image Navigator tool window. Then, you can have the interesting part of the image displayed at the optimal size in the image document before moving the image segment.

Undoing actions

You can undo the moving of an image segment by using the Edit > Undo command.

Multi-dimensional images

icon_tstack With a time stack, the image segment is moved on the frame that is currently on display. The other frames will not be modified by this.
