You can copy an image segment, or other objects, e.g., drawing objects, into the clipboard. Select the Edit > Copy command, or the [Ctrl + C] keyboard shortcut. Prerequisite: This command is only available when an image segment, or another object, has been marked. Copying an image segment1.Activate the image out of which you want to copy the segment. 2.Activate the Toolbox toolbar. To do this, use, e.g., the View > Toolbars > Toolbox command. 3.Click the Rectangular Marquee 4.With the left mouse button depressed, outline the image segment that you want to copy. 5.The selected image segment will be outlined with a broken line. 5.Select the Edit > Copy command, or the [Ctrl + C] shortcut. You will also find this command in the image window's context menu. What can you do with the image segment you've copied?1.You can insert the image segment you've copied into another image in your software. Activate the image into which you want to paste the segment. Then use the Edit > Paste command. 2.You can create a new image from the image segment you've copied. To do this, use the Edit > Paste As > New Image command. 3.You can insert the image segment you've copied into another image as an image layer. In this way, you create a multi-layer image. To do this, use the Edit > Paste As > New Layer command. 4.You can insert the segment you've copied into another application program, e.g. MS-Word. To do so, use the [Ctrl + V] shortcut. Please note...Note: When you copy image segments, please pay attention to the points listed below: Shape of the segmentThe image segment need not be rectangular nor connected, it can be made up of a combination of rectangular image segments in any form you may wish for. You can find more information on this topic here. Large imagesShould your image be very large, use the Image Navigator tool window. Then you can have the interesting part of the image displayed at the optimal size in the image window, before you use the Edit > Copy command to copy the image segment. Appearance of the image on your monitorIt will always be the original image data that are copied into the clipboard. Therefore, when you have used the Image > Adjust Display command to alter how the image is currently displayed on your monitor, this will have no effect when you copy the data into the clipboard. To copy precisely the image that is currently on display on your monitor, use the Edit > Copy Display to Clipboard command. Specifics for various image types
Drawing objectsWhen you copy to the clipboard, drawing objects will not be included in the copy. Copying drawing objectsYou can paste drawing objects from one image onto another image. 1.Load an image that contains drawing objects. You can also insert new drawing objects. To do this, use the buttons on the Drawing toolbar. 2.If necessary, switch to the edit-object mode. To do so, click the Select Drawing Objects When the button appears clicked, you will already be working in the edit-object mode. 3.Select the drawing object you want to copy. 4.Select the Edit > Copy command, or the [Ctrl + C] shortcut. 5.The drawing objects you've selected will be copied to the clipboard. 5.Activate the image into which you want to paste the drawing objects. 6.Display the entire image on your monitor. To do so, use, e.g., the Fit to Window 7.Use the [Ctrl + V] shortcut to paste the copied drawing objects into the drawing layer of the active image. 8.The drawing objects that have been copied will then be copied onto the same positions that they were copied to in the source image. If that isn't possible, because the source image is larger than the image into which you want to copy drawing objects, the drawing objects will at least be positioned in the same part of the image, e.g., the top left. 8.You can then position the copied drawing objects on the image, or process them. 5172 24092012 |
