Working with toolbars |

When delivered, certain toolbars are displayed in each layout. These contain the most frequently used buttons. You can change your toolbars in the following ways: Making a toolbar appear/disappear Changing the appearance of toolbars See also Making a toolbar appear/disappearMaking a toolbar appearTo make a toolbar appear, open the list of all existing toolbars. Select a toolbar without a check. Making a toolbar disappearTo make a toolbar disappear, open the list of all existing toolbars. Select one of the toolbars indicated by a check. Opening the list of all existing toolbarsYou have several possibilities to open a list of all existing toolbars. 1.Use the View > Toolbars menu command. 2.Use the Toolbar 3.Click in any toolbar with the right mouse button. 4.Use the list of all of the toolbars in the Tools > Customize > Toolbars dialog box. Use the Tools > Customization > Start Customize Mode... button to open the dialog box. Positioning toolbarsNote: Whether a toolbar is to be displayed or not, and where it is to be displayed, will be saved separately for each layout. You can, therefore, decide, for instance, that you want to show a toolbar in the Acquisition layout, but not in the others. Docked toolbarsToolbars are by default located at a specific place on the user interface. Where a docked toolbar is concerned, the header will not be displayed. Floating a toolbarYou can remove a docked toolbar from its predefined position at any time, and place it anywhere you want on your monitor. 1.A docked toolbar has a small handle 2.Your mouse pointer then takes on the form of a four-pronged arrowhead 2.As soon as the pointer changes shape to a four-pronged arrowhead, you can drag the toolbar, while keeping your left mouse button depressed, to any position you want. 3.Where a toolbar is concerned that isn't docked, but is freely positioned on your monitor, the header will always be displayed. Docking a toolbar in its original position1.Double click on the header of the toolbar that's been re-positioned. •The toolbar will immediately be automatically docked in its original position. Docking a toolbar wherever you want on the user interfaceA toolbar that is freely positioned on your monitor can at any time be docked wherever you want on the user interface. 1.Click the toolbar's header. While keeping the left mouse button pressed, drag the toolbar to the desired position. You can dock the toolbar on the right, left, top or bottom, of your user interface. 2.As soon as your mouse pointer touches the edge of the user interface, the toolbar will automatically be docked on this edge. 2.When you like the toolbar's new position, release the left mouse button to confirm this position. Adding or removing buttonsTo enable rapid hiding or adding of buttons, all toolbars have a small arrow Note: You can, at any time, reverse any changes you have made to the toolbar's configuration. Use the Tools > Customization > Reset command to return a toolbar to its default configuration. Hiding buttons1.Click the arrow on the right edge of the toolbar you want to change. If the toolbar has been docked (vertically) on the left-hand or right-hand edge of the user interface, the arrow will be at the bottom of the toolbar. 2.Select the Add or Remove Buttons command. 3.You will then be offered all of the toolbars docked in that area of the screen. 3.Select the toolbar you want to change. 4.Clear the check box next to the button you want to fade out. 5.The check will disappear and the button will no longer be displayed on the toolbar. Note: Alternatively, you can use the depressed [Alt] key to drag the button out of the toolbar. Adding buttons1.Click the arrow on the right edge of the toolbar you want to change. If the toolbar has been docked (vertically) on the left-hand or right-hand edge of the user interface, the arrow will be at the bottom of the toolbar. 2.Select the Add or Remove Buttons command. 3.You will then be offered all of the toolbars docked in that area of the screen. 3.Select the toolbar you want to change. 4.Select the check box next to the button you want to add. Pasting buttons into another toolbar1.Make the toolbar that contains the button you want to paste appear. Make the toolbar into which you want to paste the button appear. 2.Keep the [Ctrl + Alt] keys depressed. 3.Drag the button you want, from one toolbar to the other. 4.The button will then be present on both of the toolbars. Setting up a new toolbarYou can create a personal toolbar and add all buttons or commands to it that you consider necessary. 1.To do so, use the Tools > Customization > Start Customize Mode... command. 2.Select the Toolbars tab in the Customize dialog box. 3.Click the New... button. 4.Enter a name for the new toolbar in the Toolbar Name dialog box. Confirm your settings with OK. 5. The new toolbar will appear on your monitor at the top left. Since it does not yet contain any buttons, it can easily be overlooked. Look out for a toolbar that's empty, like the one shown above. 5.Go to the Commands tab. 6.Select the command group in the Categories list from which you want to add commands as buttons to your toolbar. 7.Select the required commands in the Commands list and drag them to your personal toolbar. 8.Should you wish to, you can change the appearance of the buttons. To do so, use the Button Appearance command. You can find more information on this command here. 9.Click the Close button to finalize the new toolbar configuration. 10.The new toolbar is automatically saved when you close your software. The currently loaded software configuration will be overwritten by the automatically saved software configuration file. You will find more information on the software configuration here. 11.The newly set up software configuration with your personal toolbar will be automatically loaded the next time you start your software. Changing the appearance of toolbars1.Use the Tools > Customization > Start Customize Mode... command. 2.Select the Options tab in the Customize dialog box. 3.Select the Large icons check box to enlarge the buttons, for example. •A description of all the options can be found here. 00016 |
