Which information will be shown?

You set which information will be shown in the Tools > Options > Info Stamp > Properties dialog box.

Note: Which information is available depends on the image type, the supported hardware and the camera used. For this reason, not all information in the Tools > Options > Info Stamp > Properties dialog box will be relevant to your images.

Examples of information that you can show in the info stamp:

Magnification

If the microscope magnification can be read from the image properties, then it will be displayed with the info stamp on the image.

In contrast to the microscope magnification displayed in the info stamp, the status bar displays the current magnification of the image on the monitor. This magnification depends on the zoom factor of the image in the image window.

Where images you have acquired with your software are concerned, the microscope magnification at which the image was acquired is, as a rule, known.

Images that you have acquired via the TWAIN interface, or images that were created by other application programs, will not, as a rule, be calibrated. For this reason, no microscope magnification can be output for these images.

Exposure time

You can display the exposure time in the info stamp if it can be read out of the image properties.

t for time stacks

icon_tstack For time stacks, you can show the time stamp for the displayed image in the image window. In a time stack all frames have been acquired at different points of time. The time stamp indicates the point in time at which the acquisition of the frame was started.

Properties of the info stamp

The info stamp will appear in the image window and not in the image itself. This has certain consequences:

Showing the info stamp for all images or for no image

Whether or not information on the image is to be displayed, is a global setting valid for all images that are loaded. You cannot have the information stamp shown only for certain images.

Readability of the info stamp

The information remains visible and readable, no matter which zoom factor you choose. The position of the information, e.g., on the lower left border of the image window, always remains the same.

The size of an image, more precisely the size of the image window, limits the amount of information that can be shown in the image. Should it no longer be possible to display the information, because the image or the image window is too small, the info stamp will be hidden.

Exporting the info stamp

This information will not be shown when you load the image into another application program.

You can, however, burn the information into the image. To do so, use the Image > Burn In Info command. Please note, however, that by burning it into the image, you will lose image information.

Editing the info stamp

You cannot edit the information with the tools in the Drawings toolbar, for instance to change the color of its text.

Should you want to change the info stamp's appearance, use the Tools > Options... command. There you can find several options with which you can change the info stamp's appearance.

Printing the info stamp

When you use the File > Print... command to print out an image, you can decide for yourself whether or not you want the information from the info stamp printed out as well. When you wish to have the info stamp printed along with the image, select the File > Page Setup > Images > Header/Footer > Print info stamp check box.

What you can do if you can't see the info stamp?

When is information not displayed?

The size of an image, or the size of the image window limits the amount of information that can be shown in the image. Should it no longer be possible to display the information, because the image or the image window is too small, the info stamp will be hidden.

Information that cannot be read from the image data will also be hidden. When, for example, you load an image that wasn't acquired with your software, the product version cannot be displayed in the info stamp, even if the relevant check box in the Tools > Options > Info Stamp > Properties dialog box has been selected.

What you can do if you can't see the info stamp?

If you can't see an info stamp on the image, check the following points in this order:

Check whether the info stamp has in fact, been put on display. If this is the case, the button next to the View > Info Stamp command should appear clicked. You can recognize this status by the button's colored background.

Should the image have been greatly reduced in size, increase the image's zoom factor in the image window. You can find more information on this topic here.

Reduce the font size of the info stamp. To do this, use the Tools > Options > Info Stamp > General dialog box.

Reduce the amount of information that is to be displayed. To do this, use the Tools > Options > Info Stamp > Properties dialog box.
