Reducing the size of an image series |

Sometimes it can make sense to reduce the size of an image series (time stack). Example: Saving a time stack as an AVI video can quickly result in large files. If possible, reduce the time stack's size before saving it as an AVI video. You can reduce the size of an image series in the following ways: Reducing the size of image segment Cropping image seriesMaybe you are only interested in one special segment of the image. You can use the Image > Crop... command, to cut an interesting image segment out of an image series. You can find more information on this command here.
Reducing the size of image segmentUse the Image > Geometry > Resize... command, to make the active image series smaller. You can find more information on this command here. Note: If you reduce the size of an image series, you will lose image information. Several pixels with different gray/color values will be combined into single pixel. Compressing an image seriesYou can also reduce an image series' file size by compressing the image series when you save it. For the TIF file format, use, for example, the Save Image Options > TIFF dialog box to set the compression method and the degree of compression. To open this dialog box, use the File > Save As... command and select, e.g., the file format TIF, then click the Options... button. You can find more information on this dialog box here.
