bb_remove_palette Remove Color Table

You can change a pseudo color image back to the original gray-value image and thereby have its actual gray values displayed on your monitor below the color table. To do so, click the Remove Color Table button in the Image > Pseudo Color dialog box.

Note: The current color table will be deleted. It will then be lost, unless it has previously been saved as an independent file.

16-bit gray-value images

For the display of a 16-bit gray-value image on your monitor, a color table is always necessary. This color table, however, as a rule, contains no colors, but instead, gray values of from 0-255. The reason for this is that your monitor can display far fewer gray values, only (256), than a 16-bit image contains, (65535). Therefore, if you use the Remove Color Table command, you will simply be switched to the default color table.

By default, your software will automatically ascertain which are the image's smallest and greatest gray values. The gray value range between the lowest and highest gray value will be divided into 256 parts and displayed on your monitor.
