Working with macros

What is a batch process?

Your software offers the possibility to define macros, in order to quickly and simply automate work procedures that you use repeatedly. In the batch mode, you can apply one macro to several images one after the other.

Selecting images

Select the images that you want to process with the macro.

For example, have the Gallery tool window displayed and select some or all of the images that are currently opened in your software.

Why use a batch process?

Use a batch process when you want to apply the same image processing functions to numerous images. When you use the batch process, you don't need to load, process, and save each image individually. The batch process does this for you.

You should also use a batch process when you want to apply image processing functions that take a long time. In this case, you can, for example, let the image processing functions run over night, and in this way save time.

Example: You have acquired 100 images and want to improve the contrast in all images using an image processing function, for example Process > Sharpen Filters > Sharpen... . Using a batch process, you can process many images very quickly without having to load all the images in your software at the same time.

Which macros can you use in a batch process?

Macros that you can use in a batch process have to fulfill several prerequisites.

Use only image processing functions in a macro for a batch process.

A macro for a batch process can't contain any functions for the acquisition or loading of images. When you have once started the batch process, you define the image files that are to be processed in the batch process, in the Define Macro Batch dialog box.

Since a batch process runs absolutely automatically, the macro is not allowed to contain any functions which require the user to make entries while the macro is running.

A macro for a batch process is not allowed to contain any functions for the saving of documents. In the Define Macro Batch dialog box, you specify whether, and where, the resulting images are to be saved.

Should the active macro not be suitable for a batch process, you'll receive a corresponding message when the batch process is started. Check your macro, and delete, or deactivate the step that leads to problems during a batch process.
