Dialog box - All Options

When an image is acquired, your software allocates it a default name. For instance, the first image that your software acquires will be named, "Image_01", by default. Use the All Options dialog box to change image names which were automatically issued during the image acquisition.

Opening the dialog box

There are several ways in which you can open the dialog box: e.g. follow these step-by-step instructions.

1.For example, click the Acquisition Settings bb_camera_settings button on the Camera Control toolbar.

2.In the Acquisition Settings dialog box, select the Document Name entry in the tree structure at the left of the dialog box.

3.Click the All Options... button in the Customize group.

Available and selected properties

Your software supplies you with a number of placeholders that you can use in image names.

The Available properties list contains all of the placeholders and texts that are available. You can find a description of the placeholders here.

Placeholders are identified by angle brackets there. In the actual image name, placeholders will be replaced by special values, e.g., the <Date> placeholder stands for the current date.

Texts, however, are fixed and will also be used in image names just as they have been defined.

The Selected properties column contains placeholders and texts that will actually be used in image names. You can use some placeholders more than once. For example, the <Separator> placeholder will normally be used several times, to separate the individual parts of the name from each other.

The entries in the Selected properties column will be used from top to bottom, to make up the image name.

Defining an image name

If you want to use a placeholder or a text in the automatically created image name, select it in the Available properties column. Then click the Add >> button to move this entry into the Selected properties column. The new image name will be displayed in the Preview field, check it there.

Alternatively, you can also select a placeholder or a text by doubleclicking it. Double click the placeholder or text that you want in the Available properties column, to have it set before the selected position in the Selected properties column.

If you no longer want to use a placeholder or a text in the automatically created image name, select it in the Selected properties column. Then click the << Remove button.

The <Counter> placeholder must be part of the name. This means that you can't remove it.

Use the Up and Down buttons to change the order of the placeholders and texts that have been chosen.

Editing placeholders

Most placeholders can be configured. Therefore, you can, for example, choose from a number of date or time formats. To configure a placeholder, select the placeholder in the Selected properties column and click the Modify... button. You can find more information on this topic here.

Placeholders are predefined. You can neither create new placeholders, nor delete one that exists.

Using fixed texts

Texts will be used in image names just as they have been defined. Click the New Text... button in the Available properties group to define a new text. If possible don't use any special characters within the image name. Certain special characters, e.g. "?", will not be accepted when you enter them.

You can use more than one fixed text in an image name. That can be useful if, for example, you want to add the name of your department and the description of the sample, to every image name. In this case, the text that is first used in the image name serves as a prefix, and will be automatically adopted in the Acquisition Settings > Document Name dialog box.

Texts can be deleted. To do this, select a text in the Available properties column, then click the Delete button. Please note that if the text appears in the current image name, it won't be automatically deleted from the image name.
