With the Autofocus function, you can have the sample automatically focused. To start the autofocus, click the Autofocus button in the Camera Control dialog box. How does the autofocus work? When you use the autofocus, your software acquires various images in a specified area. Your software will use these images (and the image displacement) for the calculation of the focal point. Optionally, you can define a defocus in the Acquisition Settings > Autofocus dialog box that will be automatically applied when you activate the Autofocus function. Working with a defocus has advantages for certain applications. A defocus can optimize the contrast in the image. You can define individual defocus values for the different magnification ranges. Before you can use the autofocusPrerequisite: In order to use the autofocus, all of the calibration processes displayed in the Microscope Alignment dialog box must have been carried out successfully. If the calibration processes have not been carried out yet, the Autofocus cannot be used. In this case, a message box with the following text appears: No autofocus calibration is available. Do you want to calibrate it now? Click the Yes button in this message box. In the Calibrations dialog box, select the Microscope Alignment calibration process.
