Automatically resetting document names |
|
All of the images you acquire will, by default, be assigned a number, e.g., Image_12 would be the twelfth image that you acquired since you started your software. Select the Reset automatically check box when you want to be sure that images that belong together will be consecutively, serially numbered without any breaks. You will find this check box in the Acquisition Settings > Document Name dialog box. Rules for numberingNumbering with the Reset automatically function works to the following rules: The way the rules work will be explained once more, by means of examples, at the end of the page. •The next number is always the smallest available number. •The numbering will also be returned to 1 when the automatically given image name changes because of the placeholder that has been chosen (see examples further below). •Every time you restart your software, the numbering will again begin at 1. What is the smallest available number? The smallest available number for the automatically created image name depends on whether or not the images are automatically saved. Without automatic savingWhen the automatic saving function has not been set, the smallest available number of all of the images that have been saved will be used. With automatic savingWhen the automatic saving function has been activated, the file names in the current image directory and the currently loaded images will be checked, and only then the smallest available number determined. In this case, no image name that already exists in the current image directory will be given. To switch on the automatic storage process, open the Acquisition Settings > Saving dialog box. See also Customizing automatically created names Examples for the automatic resetExample 1: You have acquired three images and have then deleted the second one, which had the name Image_02. When the Reset automatically check box has been selected, the next image you acquire will be assigned the name Image_02. When the Reset automatically check box has not been selected, the number given will always be one value higher than the last one. That means this image will be named Image_04 since an image with the name Image_03 already exists. Example 2: You have acquired a series of five images with the name, Image_<Counter>. Subsequently you change the name to, Specimen_<Counter>. When the Reset automatically check box has been selected, the next image you acquire will be assigned the name Specimen_01. That is to say, the numbering will then be automatically reset to the value 1. When the Reset automatically check box has not been selected, the number given will always be one value higher than the last one. In this case the image would be named, Specimen_06. Example 3: You have used the placeholder <Time> and have defined the image name as, Image_<Time>_<Counter>. When you then acquire three images at 18:22 hrs., the last image you acquired will be named, Image_1822_03. When the Reset automatically check box has been selected, the numbering will automatically be reset to 1 as soon as the acquisition time changes. This means that an image acquired at 18:34 hrs is named Image_1834_01. When the Reset automatically check box has not been selected, the numbering will be continued. This means that an image acquired at 18:34 hrs is now named Image_1834_04. 00182 23022012 |
