Working with parameter sets |
What exactly, are parameter sets?A parameter set comprises settings that you have made for a specific function, such as the image calibration, and which you have also saved as a file. You can create such parameter sets in a variety of dialog boxes, and when you later need them, load them again. Parameter sets can, moreover, be exported and imported, for example, to make them available to other users or other PCs on which your software has been installed. There are several ways in which you can work with parameter sets, the possibilities are: Overwriting, editing, or deleting a parameter set Exporting and importing a parameter set Saving a parameter setThe Save <Parameter Set> As dialog box can be opened from a variety of tool windows or dialog boxes. Here you can save specific settings that you've made in the active dialog box, in a parameter set. The parameter set you've saved can, at any time, be loaded and also made available to other users. 1.Make the required settings in the active dialog box, then click this 2.A dialog box for saving parameter sets opens. 2.Enter a descriptive name for the parameter set, in the Name field. 3.In the Description field, enter, if needed, a comprehensible description of the function group. 4.The Description field is not always available. This depends on which dialog box or tool window you opened the Save <parameter set> As dialog box from. 4.In the Access options, at the bottom of the dialog box, you specify whether the parameter set is to be available only to yourself, or to all of the users. •The system is preset in such a way that a new parameter set is initially only available to the user who set it up. You recognize this status by the small icon ( •Select the Public option. The parameter set can now be used by other users. You will be able to recognize this by the small icon ( 5.Click the Save button to save the new parameter set. •The parameter set will then be added to the Available <parameter sets> list. •The Save button will remain inactive and is displayed in gray until you have made an entry in the Name field. You can leave this dialog box by clicking the Cancel button. The Save button will become active, as soon as you've entered something in the Name field. •The parameter sets in the Available <parameter sets> list will be arranged alphabetically. Loading a parameter setThere are two ways in which you can load a saved parameter set, depending on which dialog box is active at the time. In some dialog boxes you will immediately find a picklist with the saved parameter sets. In some dialog boxes, you will first have to click the Load 1.Select the parameter set you want from the list, then click the Load button. 2.The settings in the parameter set you've selected will be loaded. Overwriting, editing, or deleting a parameter setOverwriting a parameter setYou can change a parameter set's settings, by overwriting an existing parameter set with new settings. 1.Use the Image > Calibrate Image... command, for example. 2.Make the required settings in the active dialog box, then click this 3.In the Save <parameter set> As dialog box, enter the name of the parameter set you wish to overwrite directly in the Name field, then click the Replace button. 4.Confirm the query whether you want to overwrite the existing parameter set or not with OK. 5.The parameter set has now been saved with the new settings. Editing a parameter set1.Open the Save <parameter set> As or Manage <parameter set> dialog box. 2.Select the parameter set you want to edit in the dialog box's list. 3.With user defined parameter sets, in the Name, Description, and Access fields, buttons with which you can edit the fields will now appear. 3.Change the name, the description, or the access status. 4.Click the Replace button to save the changes and close the dialog box. Deleting a parameter setYou can delete a parameter set that you no longer require, at any time. 1.Open the Save <parameter set> As or Manage <parameter set> dialog box. 2.Select the parameter set you want to delete in the Available <parameter sets> list. 3.In the Save <parameter set> As dialog box, click your right mouse button, then select the Delete command from the context menu. In the Manage <parameter set> dialog box, click the button with the red cross 4.The parameter set will be deleted, and removed from the Available <parameter sets> list.
