Paste As New Layer

Copy an image segment to the clipboard. Use the Edit > Paste As > New Layer command to insert the segment you've copied into the document group's active image. This segment will then be inserted into the image as a new layer. The resulting image will then have been turned into a multi-layer image.

Pasting an image segment into another image as a new layer.

1.Copy an image segment to the clipboard.

Additional information on copying an image segment can be found here.

2.Activate the image document into which you want to paste the segment.

3.Use the Edit > Paste As > New Layer command.

4.The image segment will be pasted into the middle of the image.

5.At the same time a new layer will be created in the image.

4.You can then position the image segment wherever you want on the image. To do this, while keeping the left mouse button depressed, drag the image segment to the required position.

5.Use the View > Tool Windows > Layers command to make the Layers tool window appear.

The layer with the segment you've copied is active. You will recognize this, because the layer will be highlighted in color in the Layers tool window.

6.Activate the image layer in the Layers tool window. To do this, click on the thumbnail.

7.The image layer will then be shown highlighted in color in the Layers tool window. By doing this, you'll have fixed the image segment, which can then no longer be picked up and moved. To do that, you will first have to activate the layer with the image segment.
