Import Macros

Use the Import Macros... command to import a macro file into your software. A macro directory has the file name extension XVM.

You will find the command in the Macro Management menu. To open this menu, click the Macro Management bb_manage_macro button in the Macro Manager tool window's toolbar.

When you import macros, please pay attention to the points listed below:

The macro file will be automatically copied when it is imported

When you import a macro file, this file will be automatically copied into your software's macro directory. The macro file itself will not be changed when it is imported.

Using an imported macro

The imported macro will appear together with all of the other macros that you can use, in the Macro Manager tool window's macro list. There, you can select it, run it or process it, just as you can every other macro.

Error messages caused by software versions that are different

When you import macros into your software that were recorded with an older or different software version, you may well receive an error message.

warndreieck The functions within the macro that are outdated will be indicated by a warning icon in your Macro Manager tool window's list of functions. You can update such functions. Select this function, then use the Update step command from the tool window's context menu.

Icon_BadVersion Another software version can contain more functions than yours. Therefore, it's possible that a function from another software version will be unknown to your software. Unknown functions can't be carried out and will be indicated by a red exclamation mark.

Importing a macro with an existing macro name

In your software, macros will be saved in a specific macro directory. For this reason, no two macros are allowed to have the same name. When you import a macro with a name under which another macro already exists, you will receive an error message and the import will be canceled.

In this case, you will have to rename the existing macro or delete it, to be able to import the other macro. You can do this using the Rename Macro command.
