If you want to get used to your software, then sometimes any image suffices to try out a function. You can, whenever you want to, also create a new image without a camera. To do this, use the New Image dialog box. To open this dialog box, use the File > New > Image... command, or use the keyboard shortcut [Ctrl + N]. Description of dialog boxEnter the image name in the Name field. The image name will automatically become the title of the image window. While you are saving it, the image name will automatically be offered as the name for the file. Select the Copy properties from active image check box to adopt the image size and type of the active image document. Enter the number of pixels that the new image is to have, in the Width and Height fields. An image with a Width=100 and a Height=50, has 100x50=5000 pixels. Select the image type you want in the Type field. The following image types are available: Generating a test imageYou have one more possibility for creating a new image. Use the [Ctrl + Shift + Alt + T] keyboard shortcut to quickly generate a color test image.
