You have several ways of switching to the live mode to acquire snapshots:
1.Use the Camera Control tool window. Use, e.g., the View > Tool Windows > Camera Control command to make this tool window appear.

In the Camera Control tool window you will find the buttons Live (left) and Snap (right).
Click the Live button to switch to the live mode.
Click the Snap button to acquire a snapshot.

2.Use either the Acquire > Live or the Acquire > Snap command. Please note that the menu commands are available in every layout, whereas the Camera Control tool window is, by default, hidden in some layouts.
3.Use the [F7] key to switch to the live mode.
Use the [F8] key to acquire an image.
