User roles |
|
Every user can take on one of three roles, each of which is allocated different software functions. The functions that are linked to each role are predefined and cannot be changed. AdministratorThe Administrator has the right to use all of the software's functions. Only the administrator can change a software user's rights, register new users and allocate them a user role. The user who installs the software will automatically be set up as an administrator. It is possible for several users to be allocated administrator rights. Power UserThe Power User has the right to use all of the software functions. He cannot however, change a user's rights. Standard UserThe Standard User has the right to use only a limited number of functions. The commands to change the device configuration Acquire > Calibrations... and Acquire > Devices are hidden. At the time of installation, in addition to the administrator, a user with the name Standard User and the role Standard user will be set up. Everyone who logs on with another as the administrator's name, starts the software automatically as a Standard User. You need not, therefore, register additional users to make the software available to multiple users. You can also delete the Standard User! In this way, only users who you have set up a user name for can start the software. See also Protecting calibration dataThe administrator can also start the software as a standard user. In this way, no user can inadvertently overwrite the calibration data. 1.Start your software as an administrator. 2.Use the Tools > User Rights... command. 3.In the User Rights dialog box select administrator and click the Properties... button. 4.In the User Properties dialog box, select in addition to administrator, also the Standard User check box. Close the dialog box with OK. 5.In the User Rights dialog box, click the Select Active Role... button to activate your role as standard user. In the Select Active Role dialog box choose the Standard User entry. 6.Close all dialog boxes with OK. 7.Exit your software and start it anew. 8.The Acquire > Calibrations... and Acquire > Devices commands will no longer be available. 9.By using the Tools > User Rights > Select Active Role... command, you can adopt the administrator role again at any time. 00068 02012013 |
