Use the View > Cross Hair command or the [Alt + F6] keyboard shortcut to make a cross hair appear or disappear in the image window. The cross hair always shows where the middle of the image is. What does the cross hair look like?Should you want to change the cross hair's appearance, use the Tools > Options > Cross Hair > Format command. Here, you can, for example, change the line width and color of the cross hair. How large the cross hair looks in the image window, doesn't depend on the size of the image, nor on the image's current zoom factor.
